LAS VEGAS – Down a round? That’s no problem for Al Iaquinta.
During Friday’s new episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” on FX, Team Faber’s No. 1 pick upset Myles Jury – Team Cruz’s No. 3 draft pick – with a late surge.
Iaquinta needed to win the final two rounds to do it, but as he told MMAjunkie.com, slow starts are nothing new.

UFC president Dana White is far more concerned with getting the
Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix done than booking the winner’s next
opponent.
“We’ll figure that out when it happens,” White said.
However, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that a UFC import could fill the spot.

Following Friday’s win on the third episode of FX’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Live,” Justin Lawrence planned to reward himself with a single-night feast of ribs and soda.
But after the win, the Team Cruz lightweight told MMAjunkie.com his knockout of PRIDE vet Cristiano Marcello was far from perfect.
“I’m not satisfied, and I’m not happy,” he said immediately after his live fight. “It was a good win, but I kind of felt sloppy out there.”

Michael Bisping believes he beat Chael Sonnen two rounds to one, but he’s not bent out of shape over losing a unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 2.
The way he sees it, he’ll get his title shot sooner or later. And in doing well against Sonnen, he’s already made a good argument for getting it sooner.
“I don’t think it was a step backward,” Bisping told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “If anything, I cemented myself as one of the top contenders in the division. I want to fight again soon. I’m aching to fight.”

These days, the UFC encourages fighters to air their matchmaking wishes in a public forum. Provided it’s not too wacky a request, callouts can help gauge interest in future bouts.
But that’s one offer Matt Brown is going to turn down.
“I sort of called out one person in my entire career, and that was Renzo,” he told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I wished I never did it; I pretty much got barred from their team.”

LAS VEGAS – The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s own media notes on
Brazilian bantamweight Renan Barao sum it up nicely:
“Has best record, on paper, in all of MMA.”
On Saturday night, Barao earned his 28th-straight win by downing onetime
title-challenger Scott Jorgensen via unanimous decision.
The 24-year-old is now 5-0 under the Zuffa banner, and while UFC
president Dana White isn’t ready to grant him a title shot just yet, he
admits the Nova Uniao product is quickly becoming one of Brazil’s most
popular fighters.
