The UFC has requested Memorial Day and Independence Day-weekend dates for events in Las Vegas.
Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer today confirmed via email with MMAjunkie.com that UFC officials have served May 26 and July 7 for major events.
Both shows are planned for the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – If you need proof that MMA is the combat sport of the future, look no further than the Richard
Steele Boxing Club in Las Vegas.
The five-year-old nonprofit gym on Thursday took its MMA program to the next level.
The gym’s MMA program already has more than 55 kids enrolled. On Thursday, UFC officials partnered with Century Martial Arts to donate thousands of dollars of gloves, bags and other equipment to help fund the program’s growing needs.

As expected the next UFC Fan Expo will take place July 6-7 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
MMAjunkie.com recently passed along news of the planned event, and UFC executives today made it official.
The two-day fan festival coincides with a July 7 pay-per-view event. That show is expected to take place at Mandalay Bay’s sister property, the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

UFC heavyweight No. 1 contender Alistair Overeem has been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery, according to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Top UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem has been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery following an incident in a Las Vegas casino soon after his UFC 141 bout this past month.
According to the “Las Vegas Review-Journal,” Overeem is slated to appear in court on Feb. 21, and if convicted, he faces a maximum of six months in county jail and a maximum $1,000 fine.
MMAjunkie.com had been unable to confirm the long-rumored incident in recent weeks.

UFC president Dana White’s war on Internet piracy may have just taken an unexpected (and somewhat bizarre) turn.
Twenty-four hours after hackers posted White’s alleged personal info -
including his apparent phone number, social security number and current
and past addresses – a Las Vegas woman has come forward and claims at least part of that information is completely incorrect.
“When I look, it’s my phone number and my address,” Las Vegas’ Julie
Breeler told FOX 5 Vegas in a Friday night report. “There’s no Dana
White here, folks.”

Weigh-ins for next month’s highly anticipated “UFC 143: Condit vs. Diaz”
event take place Friday, Feb. 3, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in
Las Vegas.
The same venue hosts the following night’s pay-per-view event, which
features Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz squaring off with the UFC’s vacant interim welterweight title on
the line.
As with all UFC weigh-ins, the event is free to attend and open to the public.

The weekend likely will include a major pay-per-view event on July 7 and a UFC Fan Expo from July 6-7.
MGM Grand Garden Arena likely will host the event, and its sister property, the Mandalay Bay Events Center, is expected to host the expo.

HRH Lounge inside Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas plays host to next week’s “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” official fighter weigh-ins.
The weigh-ins, which are free and open to the public, take place Friday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT local time). Doors open at 3 p.m. PT.
The Sin City resort’s event venue, The Joint, hosts the following day’s Showtime-televised event.
