Just as Jon Jones was caught up in the moment following his submission win over Lyoto Machida, so too was trainer Greg Jackson when he told his fighter to “go check on Lyoto – get some fans.”
“I shouldn’t have spoken in that way, but that wasn’t my intention,” Jackson today told MMAjunkie.com. “It sounded bad, but moronic [expletive] comes out of my mouth sometimes.”
The intention, he said, wasn’t to be political but to remind Jones to conduct himself honorably inside the cage.

When Clifford Starks steps into the cage opposite fellow UFC newcomer
Dustin Jacoby at UFC 137, it will have been two weeks since his most
recent fight.
That’s a span normally seen on the local circuit, where fighters often
bounce from promotion to promotion in search of a paycheck.
“I believe Cliff’s ready,” Starks’ trainer, Trevor Lally, today told
MMAjunkie.com. “Would we like a little more time to
prepare for a UFC fight? Yeah. (But) these guys bang it out every day
like they’re going to have a UFC fight next week.”

A sparring accident earlier today in Montreal is responsible for a knee injury to UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre that has scratched next week’s intended UFC 137 event.
St-Pierre sprawled on a sparring partner’s takedown attempt, trainer Firas Zahabi today told MMAjunkie.com. When the champ circled away, the injury became apparent.
“After he cooled down, I knew he couldn’t fight anymore,” Zahabi said.
