BOSTON – You can call it the end of an era.

Granted, that era lasted all of 3 minutes and 19 seconds, but it’s still over.

After James Toney was forced to tap out (or wave out, if you choose to
be technical) in the first round of his UFC 118 contest with Randy
Couture on Saturday night at Boston’s TD Garden, White said he’s done

With the highly anticipated UFC 118 event just days away, MMA pundits’
expectations vary wildly in regards to the main-card bout between UFC
Hall of Famer Randy Couture and boxing veteran
James Toney.

Sure, the clichés “anything can happen in a fight” and “puncher’s
chance” generally are brought into the discussion, it’s another two-word

In the build-up to this month’s UFC 118 event in Boston, current boxing title
holder James Toney has maintained a simple
mantra: his hands can drop anyone.

Toney’s opponent, former UFC champion Randy Couture, doesn’t plan on trying to outbox his foe and will likely look for a
takedown at the first available opportunity.

But Toney and his camp have maintained that the boxer possesses enough

Behind all of James Toney’s bluster are the men tasked with readying him
for his first trip to the foreign land of mixed martial arts.

Head coach John Arthur is a former street fighter and boxing trainer,
and Trever Sherman is a social worker. They come from very different
worlds, and they are both supremely confident Toney is going to hurt
Randy Couture very, very badly at UFC 118.

“If James gets an opportunity, they’re going to rush Randy to the
hospital,” trainer Sherman recently told MMAjunkie.com.

Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal says it was a standing guillotine that forced him to tap out to James Toney.

Lawal is one of the more notable fighters to witness the boxing champ’s preparation for his first MMA fight, which comes next month against Randy Couture at UFC 118.

And while Lawal wasn’t sold on Toney at first, the experience changed his tune.
