NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s often said that there are no easy fights in the
UFC, and Jim Miller’s schedule is a prime example of that claim.
After losing a unanimous decision to Ben Henderson, Miller wasn’t
offered any freebies, no easy matchups to regain a little confidence in
the cage.
Instead, Miller now meets Melvin Guillard in the main event of Friday’s
UFC on FX 1 card in Nashville, Tenn., in a key matchup that could propel
one of the two lightweights back into title contention. For Miller, it
couldn’t have been any other way.

Tickets for the next Strikeforce event go on sale this week.
With a heavyweight grand-prix finale between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier still in doubt and not currently slotted for the March 3 card, the show now has been dubbed “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey.”
The event, which takes place at Ohio’s Nationwide Arena in Columbus, features a title fight between women’s flyweight champ Miesha Tate and undefeated challenger Ronda Rousey.

LAS VEGAS – Fans have pooh-poohed the matchup, and much of the media has written it off as meaningless.
Additionally, Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold hasn’t made it a secret that upcoming title challenger Keith Jardine wasn’t the high-profile opponent he hoped for. But that comes as no surprise to the challenger.
“Of course he doesn’t want this fight,” Jardine recently told MMAjunkie.com.

The show, UFC on FUEL TV 1, takes place Feb. 15 at the 10,000-seat Omaha Civic Auditorium (not CenturyLink Center) in Omaha, Neb.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, but a pre-sale period begins later today.

The UFC is going to strike while the iron is hot.
Following a successful lighter-weights season of “The Ultimate Fighter”
reality series on Spike TV, the UFC is going even lighter and adding a
125-pound flyweight division.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the long-rumored division – which
will be the UFC’s eighth – should be announced within the next few days.

Despite persistent rumors, Strikeforce hasn’t completed a broadcast deal to remain on Showtime.
But Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker today hinted at some progress with the premium-cable channel and suggested an announcement could be coming.
“That’s something we’ll just have to wait and see,” Coker said. “But I think things are going well, and I think we’ll have something to announce soon.”

The UFC returns to Toronto for the second time in 2011, as UFC light
heavyweight champion Jon Jones defends his belt against Lyoto Machida in
the main event of “UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida.”
In anticipation of the pay-per-view event, UFC officials recently
announced that fans are invited to both a UFC 140 open workout session
and pre-event press conference.
Both events can be attended free of charge.
