CHICAGO – Here’s a statistic for you, courtesy of Michael Bisping: Seven out of
his eight most recent opponents went to the hospital after fighting him.
“That’s a 100 percent (true) statistic – ask the UFC,” Bisping said Wednesday. “Fingers crossed, on Saturday night, it’s
going to be the exact same thing.”
The British middleweight admits that won’t be easy. He’s likely to spend
15 minutes defending takedowns and getting off his back when he meets
Chael Sonnen on Saturday at UFC on FOX 2.

Does your local cable provider not offer FUEL TV in HD?
Switch to DirecTV, says UFC president Dana White.
“The bottom line is DirecTV has FUEL TV, and it’s in HD,” White told
MMAjunkie.com. “If you are a hardcore UFC fan, and
you are in either Time Warner or Comcast – and you want it now and you
want it in HD – you have to switch to DirecTV.”

Strikeforce light heavyweight prospect Lorenz Larkin won’t lie. Getting a new opponent a week before fight time is a big deal.
Most would say the opposite. Nothing fazes them. Everything stays the same. Not so for Larkin.
“As a fighter those type of things are big,” Larkin recently told MMAjunkie.com. “Not that big if it happens weeks down the road, not too far into camp. But a week notice is a big thing. It’s a big curveball. So yeah, it plays a big effect.”

Strikeforce women’s welterweight champ Marloes Coenen
thinks Liz Carmouche is more capable of giving her
the kind of fight she likes.
Miesha Tate, on the other hand, is perhaps the type of personality she wants to face.
Coenen on Thursday told MMAjunkie.com that in
addition to her desire to test herself against the grappling skills of
the top 135-pound competitor, there exists an ideological gap between
the two that’s driving interest in a future meeting.

Short-notice and last-minute are two terms that describe the bulk of
John Gunderson’s career. By now, the UFC lightweight is used to opponent
switches. He grumbles for a minute, then moves on. It doesn’t much
change his job in the gym.
Gunderson is from the school of year-round training. There are no fight
camps – just a never-ending loop of gym sessions broken up only by his
daughter’s soccer games.
He admits he was disappointed when he couldn’t fight “The Ultimate
Fighter 8″ winner Efrain Escudero, who instead ended
up taking a fight with Charles Oliveira on the main
card of UFC Fight Night 22 on Sept. 15 in Austin, Texas. But Gunderson also thinks Escudero’s replacement, veteran Yves
Edwards, is just as good a name, and a better
overall opponent.
