Mike Brown’s recent withdrawal from next month’s UFC on FX 1 event was due to a recent knee surgery.

UFC officials announced on Thursday that Brown, a former WEC featherweight champion, scratched from his bout with Vagner Rocha due to an injury.

Brown today clarified the nature of it and said he expects a quick return to training.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has cleared one hurdle on his comeback trail.

The injured fighter had successful knee surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles, he recently tweeted.

A torn ACL and damaged meniscus recently forced St-Pierre out of a February UFC 143 title fight with Nick Diaz. Carlos Condit and Diaz now will fight for an interim title while St-Pierre’s on the sidelines for six to 10 months.

Despite suffering a broken arm in his most recent fight, former UFC
interim heavyweight and PRIDE champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will not
undergo corrective surgery.

The UFC today announced that Nogueira will instead
wear an adjustable plastic brace and undergo twice-daily, 20-minute
sessions of ultrasound therapy as his broken right humerus heals.

The fighter is expected to recover “in no more than” nine months,
according to a doctor he saw Monday in Los Angeles, UFC officials said.

With Dan Miller facing medical bills in the neighborhood of $100,000,
things weren’t exactly heading in the right direction for the UFC
middleweight contender.

Now, thanks to a little help from his employers, Miller is in much better shape.

MMAjunkie.com recently learned from Miller’s camp at
AMA Fight Club that UFC co-owners Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White each
made significant private donations to the Daniel James Miller
Foundation, which was created to assist in the funding of a kidney
transplant for Miller’s son, Daniel Jr.

Firas Zahabi said his toughest job coaching Georges St-Pierre over the years has been getting the fighter to slow down.

Now, St-Pierre has no choice.

“We’re disappointed, but it could have been worse,” Zahabi today told MMAjunkie.com following news that St-Pierre tore his ACL and can’t fight Nick Diaz at UFC 143. “A lot of fighters have come back from that injury, so I expect Georges to make a full recovery and come back better than ever.”

The fight of Daniel Miller Jr. is not yet over.

The one-year-old son of UFC middleweight Dan Miller needs a kidney
transplant as the result of a genetic kidney disorder known as
polycystic kidney disease, or PKD, and a foundation has been formed in
his name to raise money for medical bills in the neighborhood of
$100,000.

Miller’s team, AMA Fight Club, is holding an MMA seminar at the gym on
Dec. 3, the proceeds of which will benefit the foundation. An auction is
also being planned for the end of the year.
