The UFC has retained an independent drug-testing laboratory to screen fighters for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse later this month at UFC 144 in Japan.
The event’s headliners – lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and challenger Ben Henderson – will be tested along with six to eight random competitors on the fight card, a source close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com
Approximately 15,000 tickets have been sold for the show, the source said.

After a tumultuous week that saw a shakeup of the fight card, next month’s UFC 137 fight card is officially sold out.
UFC officials today announced that no tickets remain for the event, which features co-headliners of welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit and 170-pounders Nick Diaz vs. B.J. Penn.
Tickets for the event went on sale to the general public earlier today.

While some MMA fans have complained about a lacking depth to the card, UFC 138 nonetheless appears to be a hot ticket in the U.K.
The Nov. 5 event takes place at LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England, and the main card airs via same-day delay on Spike TV.
According to officials, 60 percent of tickets already have been sold for the show.

Next week’s “UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort” event officially is sold out, officials today announced.
The event, which features a middleweight title fight between champ Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort, airs on pay-per-view live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Despite the sellout, fans still can purchase $50 tickets to a UFC 126 close-circuit viewing party at the Islander Ballroom at Mandalay Bay.
