While the UFC was on hiatus this week, that certainly didn’t stop the
promotion from making big news with several massive announcements,
including an unexpected shuffling of UFC 137′s blockbuster lineup.
And while Strikeforce’s grand prix rolled on and Bellator Fighting Championships and BAMMA each conducted well-received events this weekend, it was Nick Diaz’s removal from a UFC title shot that continued to garner the most attention.
Some argue the move was pre-meditated. Others say it was simply a
marketing move. But South Carolina’s Rob Yaeger believes the move was necessary and an example of why Diaz isn’t ready
to be a UFC champion.

The festivities take place Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Key West Ballroom
of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas beginning at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m.
PT local time).
The event is free and open to the public, and doors to the venue open at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Weigh-ins for next week’s “Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov” event
take place Friday, Sept. 9, at Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena.
The same venue hosts the following night’s fight card, which features a
pair of semifinal contests in Strikeforce’s heavyweight grand prix and
airs on Showtime and HDNet.
The weigh-ins, which will be broadcast live on HDNet, kick-off at 4 p.m. ET.
