Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz II already a no-go, says Cesar Gracie

Almost as soon as it seemed a reality, a rematch between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit is not happening.

When contacted today by MMAjunkie.com, Diaz manager
Cesar Gracie said “no” when asked if a rematch recently announced is a
reality. He declined further comment.

UFC president Dana White issued a tweet late Tuesday that said Condit
had accepted a rematch with Diaz and was headed to Las Vegas on Friday,
presumably, to finalize a contract for the fight.

Cesar Gracie envisions a Nick Diaz return to UFC but says fighter deserves time off

A good night’s sleep has dulled anger within the Diaz camp.

Diaz manager Cesar Gracie doesn’t know whether the
fighter’s retirement will stick following a decision loss to Carlos
Condit, but he anticipates it won’t.

“I think Nick will miss fighting when he’s not doing it for long enough,
so I do see him coming back at some point,” Gracie today told
MMAjunkie.com. “Not now, but maybe end of the year,
2013, something like that.”

UFC 143 winner Barao wants title shot; boss says contender becoming Brazilian treasure

LAS VEGAS – The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s own media notes on
Brazilian bantamweight Renan Barao sum it up nicely:
“Has best record, on paper, in all of MMA.”

On Saturday night, Barao earned his 28th-straight win by downing onetime
title-challenger Scott Jorgensen via unanimous decision.

The 24-year-old is now 5-0 under the Zuffa banner, and while UFC
president Dana White isn’t ready to grant him a title shot just yet, he
admits the Nova Uniao product is quickly becoming one of Brazil’s most
popular fighters.

Dan Henderson wants to wait for title shot, says UFC prez

Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson has put himself in limbo, according to UFC president Dana White.

“Dan Henderson’s in a position right now where it looks like he wants to wait for Jon Jones,” White said today.

Earlier this month, White said Henderson turned down a fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC on FUEL 2.

UFC boss says top contender Alistair Overeem unlikely to be pulled from title fight

LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White doesn’t anticipate having to find a new heavyweight contender a week after the current one was charged with misdemeanor battery.

White said today that it’s his understanding that the charge arose when Alistair Overeem was confronted outside the restroom of a popular Las Vegas club.

“I don’t think he’s in that much trouble,” White said. “This isn’t a situation where he beat somebody up; I don’t think that’s the case.”

UFC 143′s Werdum grateful for octagon return, says exile forced improvement

LAS VEGAS – It took Fabricio Werdum more than three years to make it back into the UFC.

He believes God smiled on him. If nothing else, the gods of corporate acquisition were.

“If I wasn’t in the UFC, I wasn’t going to be able to fight Fedor
(Emelianenko),” Werdum said today. “I think that was the one thing I had
to do in my career. But now I’m here, and I’m back.”

Following close UFC on FOX 2 win, Sonnen says Bisping could beat champ Silva

CHICAGO – For a man who’s famously (or perhaps, infamously) walked the walk after talking the talk, Chael Sonnen nearly was tripped up by Michael Bisping.

In the co-headliner of Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 event, Sonnen edged the fellow middleweight contender to secure an April title fight and rematch with elusive foe Anderson Silva.

After the fight, Sonnen was all compliments when it came to Bisping. Silva, on the other hand, didn’t get off so easy.

Las Vegas FOX affiliate says hackers’ attack on White sees innocent woman harassed

UFC president Dana White’s war on Internet piracy may have just taken an unexpected (and somewhat bizarre) turn.

Twenty-four hours after hackers posted White’s alleged personal info -
including his apparent phone number, social security number and current
and past addresses – a Las Vegas woman has come forward and claims at least part of that information is completely incorrect.

“When I look, it’s my phone number and my address,” Las Vegas’ Julie
Breeler told FOX 5 Vegas in a Friday night report. “There’s no Dana
White here, folks.”

UFC boss says ESPN relationship mending but still stands behind pay secrecy

He hated the report, knew he would hate it, and told the world he hated it as soon as ESPN hit “publish.”

But UFC president Dana White said he’s communicating again with the
sports news giant since a report on fighter pay got everyone talking.

White didn’t characterize the nature of the talks but said, “we’re working on this relationship.”
