In its latest counter-programming move, Spike TV will air a Diego
Sanchez fight marathon opposite next week’s UFC on FUEL TV 1 event.
Sanchez headlines the Feb. 15 event, which airs live on FUEL TV, in a
welterweight bout with fast-rising contender Jake Ellenberger.
During the event time, Spike TV airs a five-hour “UFC Unleashed: Diego Sanchez” marathon featuring the fighter’s past UFC bouts.

The UFC returns to Omaha, Neb., for the second time in company history for a Feb. 15 event set for a FUEL TV broadcast.
MMAjunkie.com on Tuesday first reported the card,
“UFC on FUEL TV 1: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez,” which features a welterweight
headliner between Jake Ellenberger and Diego
Sanchez in a three-round affair.
UFC officials confirmed the matchup late Tuesday evening.

the event that Ellenberger and Sanchez will headline an
as-yet-unannounced fight card expected to take place on Wednesday, Feb.
15.
While UFC brass have yet to make an official announcement, additional
sources indicated that the event will likely take place in Ellenberger’s
hometown of Omaha, Neb., and air on FUEL TV.

Diego Sanchez has been cleared to resume training.
The UFC veteran recently scratched from a UFC 135 fight with Matt Hughes earlier this month when he was sidelined by a broken right hand.
Doctors, though, have removed his cast and cleared the lightweight fighter to resume training, though no return bout has been booked.

Diego Sanchez’s ascent in his second go-around inside the framework of the UFC welterweight division has been temporarily derailed.
The 29-year-old Sanchez was set to face former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes at UFC 135 event, which takes place Saturday at Denver’s Pepsi Center.
That was until a single right-handed punch connected to the top of his sparring partner’s head and instantly changed his trajectory.
