The lineup for “DREAM: New Year! 2011″ continues to fill, and former UFC
legend Josh Barnett and MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba are among the latest additions to the year-end event.
DREAM executives recently announced both notables will take part in
pro-wrestling contests, with Barnett facing Hideki Suzuki while Sakuraba
and Katsuyori Shibata take on Shinichi Suzukawa and Atsushi Sawada in a
tag-team affair.
DREAM also added a pair of kickboxing contests to the card with Yuta Kubo vs. Nils Widlund and Masaaki Noiri vs. Kengo Sonoda.

Japanese MMA veteran Kazushi Sakuraba and Yan Cabral have been booked for a welterweight bout that serves as the 10th matchup at next month’s DREAM.17 card.
DREAM.17 takes place Sept. 24 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Although no broadcast plans have been announced, negotiations are underway between DREAM and U.S. television partner HDNet for a possible live or tape-delayed broadcast.

The wear and tear of Kazushi Sakuraba’s prolific 14-year fighting career was no more evident than this past December.
That’s when the Japanese veteran took on DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis at “Dynamite!! 2010.”
The Lithuanian wasn’t Sakuraba’s only opponent; the 41-year-old “Gracie
Hunter” also was contending with a badly cauliflowered ear that’d play a
significant part in the year-end title fight.

Officials today announced a number of fights for the Dec. 31 DREAM “Dynamite!! 2010″ event, including a title fight between welterweight champ Marius Zaromskis and Kazushi Sakuraba.
The fight features a new format with a 10-minute opening round followed by two five-minute rounds. A Bibiano Fernandes and Hiroyuki Takaya featherweight title fight uses the same format.
