A good night’s sleep has dulled anger within the Diaz camp.
Diaz manager Cesar Gracie doesn’t know whether the
fighter’s retirement will stick following a decision loss to Carlos
Condit, but he anticipates it won’t.
“I think Nick will miss fighting when he’s not doing it for long enough,
so I do see him coming back at some point,” Gracie today told
MMAjunkie.com. “Not now, but maybe end of the year,
2013, something like that.”

LAS VEGAS – After three-and-a-year absence from the organization and picking up some major wins in Strikeforce, Fabricio Werdum made a successful return to the UFC.
The Brazilian heavyweight outlasted and even out-struck fellow big man Roy Nelson en route to a unanimous-decision victory.
The fight co-headlined UFC 143 and aired on pay-per-view from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center. Prelims aired on FX and streamed on Facebook.

LAS VEGAS – It took Fabricio Werdum more than three years to make it back into the UFC.
He believes God smiled on him. If nothing else, the gods of corporate acquisition were.
“If I wasn’t in the UFC, I wasn’t going to be able to fight Fedor
(Emelianenko),” Werdum said today. “I think that was the one thing I had
to do in my career. But now I’m here, and I’m back.”

So Neer said he instituted his backup plan when the need arose, and things went exactly as he hoped.

Seven months after he broke his right hand, Strikeforce heavyweight
Daniel Cormier is still unsure of when he’ll be ready
to fight Josh Barnett.
“I would imagine they would wait, and I think they should,” Cormier told
MMAjunkie.com. “I think Strikeforce needs some
closure to that division.”
Cormier is today scheduled for an MRI, and he expects to get a final
word on when and if he can fight. Until then, he can’t commit to any
timetable for return.

With a heavyweight grand-prix finale between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier still in doubt and not currently slotted for the March 3 card, the show now has been dubbed “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey.”
The event, which takes place at Ohio’s Nationwide Arena in Columbus, features a title fight between women’s flyweight champ Miesha Tate and undefeated challenger Ronda Rousey.

Following knee surgery for a torn ACL and damaged meniscus, UFC
welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre currently is planning for a
November return to the cage.
St-Pierre laid out the plans on Monday’s new edition of “Inside MMA” on HDNet.
And upon his return, St-Pierre said he’d rather fight Nick Diaz than his upcoming UFC 143 opponent, Carlos Condit.

RIO DE JANEIRO – So much for brilliance through osmosis.
Edinaldo Oliveira, the training partner of UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos, proved to be cannon fodder for Gabriel Gonzaga, who returned to the octagon after a 15-month absence and earned a first-round submission victory.
The preliminary-card bout was part of UFC 142 and aired on FX prior to the pay-per-view main card. It took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
