Another non-tournament bout has been added to next month’s tourney-heavy Sengoku Raiden Championship 15 event.
World Victory Road officials today announced Olympic medalist Hiroshi Izumi meets fellow light heavyweight James Zikic at the event.
Sengoku Raiden Championship 15 takes place Oct. 30 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and airs via HDNet in North America.

World Victory Road’s Sengoku event series returns Oct. 30 with Sengoku Raiden Championship 15.
The event features the semifinal round of Japanese-based organization’s welterweight grand prix and the quarterfinal round of the 20-man Asian bantamweight tournament.
The event, which is expected to air on HDNet, takes place at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

Although fifth-round stoppage victories are rare, World Victory Road middleweight champion Jorge Santiago has now scored two. In come-from-behind fashion. Against a single opponent. In fewer than two years.
Santiago latest odds-defying performance came against familiar foe Kazuo Misaki in the main event of Sunday’s Sengoku Raiden Championship 14 event, which took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, and aired live in North American on HDNet.
In addition to the championship headliner, a handful of fighters advanced in the Japanese promotion’s multi-event bantamweight and welterweight grand prixs. Santiago, though, stole the show.

The weigh-ins took place today in Tokyo, Japan. The city’s Ryogoku
Kokugikan hosts tomorrow’s show, which airs live in North America on
HDNet on Sunday morning at 2 a.m. ET.
Among those weighing in were the show’s headliners: Sengoku middleweight
champion Jorge Santiago and top challenger Kazuo Misaki. The two meet
in a rematch of their epic January 2009 encounter, which Santiago won
with a come-from-behind fifth-round technical submission.

As a reminder, World Victory Road’s recently concluded event, Sengoku Raiden Championship 13, makes its North American broadcast debut tonight on HDNet.
The three-hour broadcast airs at 10 p.m. ET.
It follows a special 8 p.m. ET airing of “Inside MMA” live from the “Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum” fighter weigh-ins and an hour of Emelianenko-related programming.
