CHICAGO – Admittedly, moral victories still bloody suck.
But for UFC on FOX 2 co-headliner Michael Bisping, who suffered a close unanimous-decision loss to No. 1 contender Chael Sonnen on Saturday at Chicago’s United Center, the Brit sees the silver lining.
Despite the defeat, Bisping has plenty of reasons to be pleased with his performance.

In putting together a last-minute co-main event fight between Chael
Sonnen and Michael Bisping,
UFC president Dana White said the winner gets a crack at middleweight
champion Anderson Silva.
That may be true, according to Sonnen. But the title shot is never going to happen.
“I can guarantee you – Anderson Silva and I will never cross paths again,” Sonnen said today.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard was not just beaten by Joe Lauzon, he was humbled.
Admittedly overconfident and unfocused for the UFC 136 clash, Guillard
was wobbled early in the fight and then submitted in just 47 seconds.
Now, as Guillard preps for a Friday night clash with Jim Miller in the main event of UFC on FX 1, he readily accepts his
role in that loss. He also insists he’ll never make the same mistake
again.

RIO DE JANEIRO – UFC president Dana White is less than thrilled with a
recent ESPN.com story detailing the financial struggles of UFC fighters.
He’s downright incensed at the “spin” video he anticipates from the
cable channel’s forthcoming “Outside the Lines” piece focusing on the
same subject.
So as you might imagine, the fiery UFC boss isn’t staying mum on the
subject. In fact, he’s taking full aim at everyone involved in the
project and promises a thorough reply that he says will truly set the
record straight.

LAS VEGAS – Strikeforce welterweight prospect Jordan Mein readily admits that his Saturday night clash with Tyron Woodley is
the biggest fight of his career.
Of course, Mein said he’s felt the same way about each of his 30 previous contests.
Mein also admits that facing wrestlers, of which Woodley is one of the best in MMA, is always a difficult challenge. Of course, with
30 professional fights under his belt at just 21 years old, Mein isn’t
exactly one to shy away from a challenge.

TORONTO – With back-to-back losses against competitors known primarily
for their wrestling acumen, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is in desperate need of win.
So one might find it surprising that Nogueira elected to seek that wvictory
against former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, another
man known primarily for his abilities as a wrestler.
“I had fights with good wrestlers, top fighters,” Nogueira told
MMAjunkie.com in advance of his UFC 140 contest.
“Honestly, everybody is at the top level. I improved my wrestling over
the past year. I think now I’m going to show that I’m a better wrestler.”

ROSEMEAD, Calif. – When UFC president Dana White says his company is focused solely on the promotion of Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos leading into this weekend’s UFC on FOX event in Anaheim, Calif., he means it.
Unfortunately, that means a critical bout in the lightweight division between perennial contender Clay Guida and former WEC champ Ben Henderson has flown largely under the radar.
But if you listen to “Smooth,” it won’t stay that way for long. Henderson thinks his promotion will take place when the cage door shuts.

Chael Sonnen made a limited-time offer to Anderson Silva. The loser-leaves-town fight he presented the middleweight champ is apparently off the table.
“That offer was good when I made it, but it’s like any offer: They’ve got to expire,” Sonnen said today during an appearance on “The Jim Rome Show.”
But as with many proclamations given by Sonnen, it’s a good bet that just the opposite is true, or the entire offer was never true.

HOUSTON – To the casual MMA fan, Kenny Florian’s name might not
immediately seem like it belongs next to those of Chuck Liddell and Matt
Hughes.
It might not even seem right nestled next to Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar.
And sure, the 35-year-old “KenFlo” will likely never find himself in the UFC
Hall of Fame, but according to UFC president Dana White, Florian is among a handful of legendary competitors who will
always have a home in the world’s biggest mixed-martial-arts promotion.
