Nowadays, Nick Diaz’s plan of attack isn’t just strategy – it’s philosophy.
Fans can pretty much bet that he’ll walk down his opponent and throw
punches until he buckles under the pressure. That’s real fighting, the
way he sees it, and though the variables may change inside the cage, his
approach is the same.
Carlos Condit is next in line to accept the Diaz challenge. Will he be able withstand the onslaught?

While this weekend’s “UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit” event is also getting
the full “UFC Primetime” treatment, that doesn’t mean the typical
“Countdown” show has been nixed.
In anticipation of the night’s key matchups, FUEL TV debuts “Countdown
to UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit” on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 9 p.m. ET.
Headliners Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit, who meet with the UFC’s interim welterweight title on the

These days, fans can be satisfied with one title match in a UFC headliner. Two? That’s a big-time card.
With some 40 events expected for 2012, they’ll have to get used to a

possibility of title contention – not the promise.
No gold is on the line Saturday at UFC on FOX 2, but the event features
two No. 1 contender bouts that promise to shape the immediate future of
the middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions.

Lightweights Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard were part of a small group with extended periods of
success this past year and under consideration for a title shot. But
there was logjam at the top of the division that kept them from rising.
Now, that logjam is cleared. Frankie Edgar defended his belt at UFC 136.
Unfortunately, both Miller and Guillard failed to clear a final hurdle
that likely would have put them in contention.
But could the winner of a Friday night headliner between the
almost-contenders produce the next challenger to the lightweight belt?

As they say, a fight is a fight, and anything can happen.
Featherweight challenger Chad Mendes is undefeated
in 11 pro outings, but he isn’t tested to the degree of featherweight
champ Jose Aldo, and he’s unfamiliar with a
five-round fight.
Aldo is the champ, Aldo has the home field advantage, and Aldo’s
mystique, though recently dulled, still hovers. A highlight-reel
clocking at near-short-film length will do that.

In bout after main-card bout, proven Strikeforce commodities meet their
lesser-tested counterparts at Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” event in Las Vegas.

title defense, and it comes against longtime UFC veteran Keith Jardine,
who’s attempting to reinvent himself in a new division.
The co-main draw has the well-traveled Strikeforce veteran Robbie Lawler meeting middleweight Adlan Amagov.

Admit it: It’s hard to tell which is more important.
Does Brock Lesnar’s 14-month hiatus from the cage carry more weight than
the behind-the-scenes drama of Alistair Overeem’s arrival in the UFC?
There’s little doubt about the how the No. 1 contender’s match will take
shape when UFC 141 rolls around tonight. But as MMAjunkie.com’s Steven Marrocco explains in our UFC 141 preview, it’s these asterisks that
make predicting the fight something of a coin toss.
