In just a five-month span, Shea Taylor underwent 12 surgeries and invasive procedures on his drastically injured lower left leg.
Ultimately, he opted to have the leg amputated, and now just nine months later, he’s preparing for his pro MMA debut at the upcoming Wild Bill’s Fight Night 40 event.
While Taylor will be the first state-sanctioned MMA competitor allowed to wear a prosthesis in a fight, he didn’t continue his MMA career to break any barriers. As Taylor told MMAjunkie.com’s Kyle Nagel, he simply wanted to feel like his normal self again.

While this past weekend’s UFC 126 event will always
be remembered for the front kick heard ’round the world, UFC president
Dana White said the card might also be known as the launching point for
the future of the company.
In conjunction with the New York-based NeuLion, Inc., the UFC offered an
enhanced pay-per-view broadcast at UFC.tv, and White believes the
format is the wave of the future.
Of course, with Internet technology comes the potential for theft, and White said his organization will continue the fight against piracy, and those who defy him should expect jail time.

It’s been a long time since former UFC light-heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin stepped inside the cage, and truth be told, he’s been dreading his return as much as he’s been craving it.
After six years of near constant fighting and training, he had no choice but to sit on the bench for much of this past year. His shoulder was shot, and there was no way he could compete.
Yes, it was nice to do things other than fighting: spend time with the
wife, go hiking in the mountains around Las Vegas, prepare for the

For Mike Guymon, it’s not just about going to the gym and going through the motions. He’s been doing that as a professional for more than 10 years.
The bigger issue is his what’s going on between his ears.
Sometimes, Guymon said, things can get a little bit loud in there. And that noise easily could be amplified by the stakes of his next fight, a meeting with DaMarques Johnson at “UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2,” which airs Saturday live on Spike TV from Fort Hood in Texas.
