UFC president confirms Sao Paulo as next stop on promotion’s Brazilian tour

A long-rumored UFC event in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo is a reality.

UFC president Dana White told MMAjunkie.com on Friday the promotion is currently searching for venues to host the event, which is targeted for an as-yet-undetermined date in June.

“It looks like it’s probably going to be a stadium show,” he said.

Welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada meets Paulo Thiago at April’s UFC on FUEL TV 2 event in Sweden.

MMAjunkie.com today confirmed the booking with event
sources. UFC officials first confirmed the matchup with Swedish site
mmanytt.se.

UFC on FUEL TV 2 takes place April 14 at Ericsson Globe Arena in
Stockholm, Sweden. The entire card is expected to air on the FOX-owned
FUEL TV.

MMAjunkie.com previously passed along news of the bout, and UFC executives since have made it official.

UFC 134 takes place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro and marks the UFC’s first Brazil event since 1998. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view, though Thiago vs. Mitchell is slated for the preliminary card.
