In the latest legal salvo between Alistair Overeem and his former managers at Golden Glory, a lawyer for the MMA team today obtained a pre-judgement from a judge to garnish the fighter’s wages for his bout tonight against Brock Lesnar.
The order requires the NSAC to withhold a $241,285.49 check Overeem is slated to receive for the fight.
The bout headlines UFC 141 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS – Alistair Overeem’s first-round destruction of Brock Lesnar
at UFC 141 officially announced his arrival as a UFC contender, but it
was hardly an overnight arrival on the scene.
“The Reem” has been fighting professionally since 1999, and he feels he’s paid more than his share of dues.
But now, Overeem has earned himself a shot at the
UFC heavyweight title, and the Britsh-born bruiser said the key to
success is simple.

A rep for Randy Couture is emphatic that Alistair Overeem left Xtreme Couture of his own accord, and that his departure is unrelated to a previous non-disclosure agreement between the UFC Hall of Famer and Brock Lesnar.
“There was no contractual issue, but it was a relationship issue,” Sam Spira, Couture’s lawyer and business partner, said.
On Nov. 7 Overeem announced that he’d joined Xtreme Couture after his departure from longtime team Golden Glory. Ten days later, he left for Holland.

As a massive 6-foot-3 heavyweight who cuts weight to make the 265-pound
heavyweight limit, former UFC champion Brock Lesnar
is no stranger to questions regarding performance-enhancing substance

But as he prepares for his UFC 141 contest with former Strikeforce
titleholder Alistair Overeem, all the question

some scrutiny. A shot at UFC heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos hangs
in the balance, and there’s simply no time for distractions.

Following Alistair Overeem’s release from the organization this past week, Strikeforce officials are tight-lipped about what’s next for his vacated title and have announced no formal plans.
But not surprisingly, the organization’s heavyweight grand prix could play a factor in the ultimate decision.

Brother vs. brother is one fight several major promotions have tried – and failed – to put together. It’s an easy sell on the business side, but not so much for the family involved. Plus, there’s often a weight class or two between siblings.
Strikeforce could be the first promotion to get brother vs. brother done.
And it looks like they’ve got two willing participants if the stars correctly align: Strikeforce heavyweight champion and heavyweight grand-prix competitor Alistair Overeem and his older brother, possible tourney alternate Valentijn Overeem.

While the buzz surrounding Strikeforce’s recently announced heavyweight
grand prix has been immense, understanding of the specifics of the
tourney has been a bit less than ideal.
Today, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker clarified many of the questions that needed to be addressed.
First up, Alistair Overeem’s title will not be on the line in the
tournament. And while there were some suggestions that every fight in
the tournament would be contested as five-round affairs, instead, that
will only happen in the grand prix finals, when a newly created
Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix title will be on the line.
