These days, the UFC encourages fighters to air their matchmaking wishes in a public forum. Provided it’s not too wacky a request, callouts can help gauge interest in future bouts.
But that’s one offer Matt Brown is going to turn down.
“I sort of called out one person in my entire career, and that was Renzo,” he told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I wished I never did it; I pretty much got barred from their team.”

CHICAGO – Here’s a statistic for you, courtesy of Michael Bisping: Seven out of
his eight most recent opponents went to the hospital after fighting him.
“That’s a 100 percent (true) statistic – ask the UFC,” Bisping said Wednesday. “Fingers crossed, on Saturday night, it’s
going to be the exact same thing.”
The British middleweight admits that won’t be easy. He’s likely to spend
15 minutes defending takedowns and getting off his back when he meets
Chael Sonnen on Saturday at UFC on FOX 2.

Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight could be in a very sunny place.
M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan today told MMAjunkie.com
(www.mmajunkie.com) that Monaco – a city-state surrounded by France and
Italy – is targeted to host the Russian heavyweight’s next fight, likely
in July.
Although Bobby Lashley has been discussed as a possible opponent,
the promotion is leaning toward “a European fighter” to meet Emelianenko.

The way Bart Palaszewski sees it, he should be fighting George Roop at UFC 144.
But he’s fighting Hatsu Hioki, so hey, whatever.
“Did you say ‘a little questionable?’” Palaszewski
scoffed when asked by MMAjunkie.com Radio
about Hioki’s octagon debut. “C’mon, man. He lost that fight.”

LAS VEGAS – Adlan Amagov can officially pinch himself.
The 25-year-old is fighting in America, in the co-main event of a major promotion, against a guy he was just watching on TV.
“I’m very happy I’m actually fighting Robbie Lawler,” Amagov told MMAjunkie.com. “I think that’s a great opportunity for me, and I want to thank Strikeforce for this opportunity.”

LAS VEGAS – With veteran slugger Robbie Lawler struggling through a 2-4 stretch in his past six fights – a run largely
contested against grappling-first opponents – you might think he’d
welcome a bout with a fellow slugger as a sort of dream matchup.
Not the case.
While Lawler is complimentary of his “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine”
opponent, Adlan Amagov, he said it’s not an ideal
booking. No, the perfect opponent would actually be a lot more
defenseless.

When Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal hangs up his crown and calls it a career, he’ll undoubtedly start a second one as an MMA analyst or color commentator.
Few competitors in the sport have his fight IQ (just ask him), and few fans immerse themselves in the sport like he does.
So when Lawal breaks down his matchup at Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” event, his prediction carries more weight than most fighters’. And that doesn’t bode well for opponent Lorenz Larkin.

Putting aside for the moment that all fighters these days train in every discipline and are as well-rounded as can be, most would say lightweight Danny Castillo is a standout in wrestling, and Ramsey Nijem is a talented jiu-jitsu player.
But Anthony Njokuani, who fights the former on Friday at UFC 141, thinks they’re the same.
“Nijem and Castillo are pretty much mirror images of each other, so there were no changes made,” he today told MMAjunkie.com Radio.
