LAS VEGAS – When the lightweight scrap between Nate Diaz and Donald
Cerrone was first announced for Friday night’s UFC 141 event, most MMA pundits
expected it to be the evening’s “Fight of the Night.”
When conflicts between the two escalated in the weeks leading up to the
fight, those expectations move up to “Fight of the Year” status.
While the
two exchanged middle fingers all the way up until the final bell, both
fighters said the beef is now behind them.

Noted MMA official Herb Dean, often called the “best referee in MMA” by
UFC president Dana White, appeared on Tuesday’s edition of “Late Night
with Jimmy Fallon,” and a video is now available of the segment.
The NBC late-night talk show featured Dean in a familiar role: referee.
However, this was no MMA contest. Instead, Dean was enlisted to oversee an “important” Ultimate Mustache Fighter matchup.

While Stephan Bonnar recently registered his
third-straight UFC win, he did so in the most unusual of fashions: to a
chorus of boos.
The San Jose, Calif., crowd did not seem to approve of Bonnar’s UFC 139
strategy of repeatedly taking down opponent Kyle Kingsbury and controlling him en route to a one-sided unanimous decision.
But after heading back to the dressing room and watching Dan Henderson,
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le put on epic co-”Fight
of the Night” efforts, Bonnar said he’s happy he didn’t try to play
hero.
