If all goes well, former UFC champion Rich Franklin’s life story will soon be the basis of a Hollywood feature film.
Eric Eisner today announced that his Double E Pictures has optioned
Franklin’s life story for a film and commissioned David Hollander to
write a script and Mathew Cullen of Motion Theory to executive produce.
“I’m excited to see the story of my career as a fighter brought to the
screen, and I feel confident that the team assembled will do a great job
in telling this story,” Franklin stated in today’s official release.

The official trailer is out for “Haywire,” an upcoming film starring Strikeforce fighter Gina Carano.
The movie, directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh, hits theaters in January 2012.
In addition to Carano, who makes her silver-screen debut, the film also
features notables such as Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Ewan
McGregor, Bill Paxton and Channing Tatum.

At first glance, you see no weakness in the UFC’s Krzysztof Soszynski. With an imposing figure of chiseled muscle, he
looks like a guy who could snap you in two if duly provoked. And he
could, technically.
But looks can be deceiving. Soszynski is one of the nicer guys you could
run across in the fight business – a guy who’s truly grateful for the
opportunities he’s had and the attention bestowed upon him.
But supporting that hulking light-heavyweight frame are the knees of a
60-year-old, according to a doctor who recently performed the seventh
corrective surgery on them. Still, Soszynski looks to return to action by year’s end, and he’s staying busy in the meantime by immersing himself in the film industry.

Believe it or not, the sensational kick Anthony Pettis used to floor
Benson Henderson was inspired by the cult martial-arts classic, “Ong
Bak.”
Pettis’ coach, Duke Roufus, said he’s played around with “old-school”
Muay Thai techniques for several years, and the crazy kick that Pettis
landed is just one such attack.
“I just believe in being creative,” Roufus today told MMAjunkie.com. “Anthony is a lifelong martial artist, and I’m a
lifelong martial artist, and we’re just trying to keep evolving and
blend it all together.”

UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture isn’t exactly
hanging up the gloves just yet, but he admits fighting is no longer his
primary focus.
In fact, following his most recent cinematic role in “The Expendables,”
Couture says he realizes his future is brighter in Hollywood than it is
in Las Vegas.
“I think [acting] is certainly what my interest is right now,” Couture
said on this week’s edition of the “MMA:30 Radio Hour.” “I’ve had an
amazing year, and I think it’s time to start looking at that, for sure.
That’s probably what’s going to carry me through for the next 10 or 15
years.”
