With a lightweight title shot within his grasp, Anthony Pettis isn’t moving to featherweight.
The former WEC champ, who was expected to fight current UFC champ Benson Henderson until Frankie Edgar instead recently got the rematch, curbed the speculation on Wednesday.
Pettis’ name had been attached to rumors of a possible move to Strikeforce to fight champ Gilbert Melendez or a move down to 145 pounds to fight UFC titleholder Jose Aldo.

Following a January loss to top middleweight prospect Chris Weidman,
Demian Maia is making a move to the UFC’s welterweight division.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace today announced his intentions via Twitter.
“Guys, now I’ll be moving down to 170 pounds,” Maia stated. “Next fight, I’ll be a welterweight.”

Joe Warren has been suspended for 90 days following a vicious knockout loss to Pat Curran at this past Friday’s Bellator 60 event.
MMAjunkie.com today requested and received a short list of suspensions from the Indiana Gaming Commission’s athletic division.
Warren’s manager, Ryan Tobin, told MMAjunkie.com the former Bellator champ sustained a concussion during the fight will no longer compete at 145 pounds.

SYDNEY – UFC president Dana White has always contended that as a
promoter, it’s not his job to tell his fighters what they can and can’t
do in terms of career direction.
That said, White remains confident he knows the best decision for former
UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar as he
looks to rebound from a UFC 144 loss.
White, who today promised Edgar an immediate shot at the featherweight
title if he’s willing to make the drop, still believes “The Answer”
should be at 145 pounds. That said, he’s still not going to make
anything a requirement.

If the docs say it’s OK, count on seeing UFC vet Aaron Simpson at welterweight.
After a loss to Ronny Markes on Wednesday at UFC on FUEL TV 1, Simpson said he’s tired of being undersized at middleweight.
“I’ve been thinking about it over the last year and a half,” the 37-year-old today told MMAjunkie.com. “Everybody I fight is cutting from 220 (pounds).”
