RIO DE JANEIRO – With his 14th-straight victory in the featherweight
division, UFC champ Jose Aldo is beginning to run
out of possible opponents at 145 pounds.

This past Saturday at an MMA event in Joliet, Ill., 20-year-old amateur fighter Jeff Dunbar was stuck in a bad way.

In the ninth of 11 scheduled fights at a Dec. 17 Fight Card

that’s now cost Dunbar the use of his limbs and forever changed his
life.

As it turns out, the loss provided Silva with a valuable lesson he
promises to carry with him for the remainder of his career – a career
that looks as if may now play out in the UFC.

SAN DIEGO – Strikeforce female featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg”
Santos might not be completely out of potential
opponents at 145 pounds, but the line of volunteers doesn’t exactly
reach around the block.

Sixteen-second victories, like the one Santos notched over Hiroko
Yamanaka at Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal” event in San Diego, tend
to have that effect.

But there is one name that just won’t go away: Ronda Rousey.
