A heavyweight bout between Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ runner-up Brendan Schaub is set for UFC 128.

MMAjunkie.com passed along news of the bout this past month, and UFC executives today made it official.

UFC 128 takes place March 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and the night’s main card airs on pay-per-view.

A sudden switch in opponents has installed Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic in a main-card match with Brendan Schaub at UFC 128.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com that verbal agreements are in place for the heavyweight contest and contracts are nearly finalized. “Fighters Only” first reported the pairing.

Although not officially announced by the promotion, UFC 128 takes place March 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Years in politics haven’t blunted Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s honesty. 

The former PRIDE champion and Croatian parliament member plainly admits the timing is not great for his fight with former champion Frank Mir, which headlines UFC 119 next Saturday.

But despite concerns he hasn’t gotten enough time to prepare, Filipovic, feels he owes it to the UFC to suck it up and perform. And he also admits he’s well-compensated for his risk.

As expected Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic has replaced injured Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and now meets fellow heavyweight Frank Mir in the main event of next month’s UFC 119 event.

News of the change first surfaced on Sunday, and UFC executives today made it official.

“UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop” takes place Sept. 25 at Conseco Fieldhouse in
Indianapolis, and the night’s main card airs on pay-per-view.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic replaces an injured Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and now meets Frank Mir in the headliner of next month’s UFC 119 event, according to a report from “Fighters Only.”

Although details of Nogueira’s injury were not reported, a source close to the fighter told MMAjunkie.com a recurring hip injury is to blame.
