CHICAGO – It’s official: Evan Dunham has put himself back into the fray of UFC lightweight title contention.
Dunham primarily used his standup to secure a second-round TKO (via doctor’s stoppage) over a game Nik Lentz, who was stopped for the first time in his UFC career.
The bout served as the featured preliminary-card contest and aired on FUEL TV as part of the UFC on FOX 2 preliminary card.

Following his UFC 140 victory over Lyoto Machida, UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has supplanted Georges St-Pierre for the No. 2 spot in Yahoo! Sports’ pound-for-pound MMA rankings.
Middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva retains the top spot.
However, Jones earned one first-place vote, which means Silva is no longer the consensus No. 1.

Looking from the outside in at Alistair Overeem, his UFC career is threatening to go off the rails before it even starts.
However, Overeem, who makes his UFC debut later this month in a UFC 141 headliner opposite Brock Lesnar,, said he’s been in far lower places in the 12 years he’s been a mixed martial artist.

UFC president Dana White believes UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar is the No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter in MMA today.
Pollsters, though, weren’t ready to declare the recently victorious champ the runner-up to Anderson Silva’s top-dog status.
In the latest Yahoo! Sports pound-for-pound rankings, in which 22 top MMA journalists vote, Edgar moved up two spots to a No. 4 ranking. But the No. 2 slot still belongs to Georges St-Pierre.

It’s Charlie Brenneman’s time. Is he ready?
Across from him Saturday is big, scary Anthony Johnson. The guy who sometimes cuts 50 pounds to make welterweight. The guy who knocks out opponents with head kicks and can wrestle, to boot.
If you ask Brenneman, of course he’s ready. He’s been competing against those much bigger and more intimidating guys for quite some time, and this is just an extension of that.
