Nevada State Athletic Commission officials today emailed the figures to MMAjunkie.com.
“Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” took place Jan. 7 at The Joint at
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The night’s five-fight main
card aired on Showtime, and four preliminary bouts aired on Showtime
Extreme.

This past weekend’s “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” event drew a 0.93 household rating and an average audience of 344,000 viewers.
MMAjunkie.com today confirmed the figures with an industry source.
Despite the Jan. 7 event taking place on Showtime’s “free-preview” weekend, the total viewership was short of the 522,000 viewers Strikeforce averaged for its eight “Arena Series” event in 2011.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission issued mandatory medical
suspensions to 10 fighters from this past weekend’s “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” event.
Four of them – middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, Tarec Saffiedine, Tyler Stinson and James Terry – could be out of action up to six months because of the
suspensions.

Strikeforce light heavyweight Trevor Smith likes to dive for leg locks when he’s in trouble on the feet, and he said he told referee Kim Winslow as much prior to a weekend bout.
“I said if I get hit, I like to dive for legs and go under, so just make sure you don’t stop the fight unless I’m out cold and taking a number of blows,” Smith today told MMAjunkie.com.
“She made some kind of comment like, ‘I’ve been doing this for a while – I know how to stop fights.’”

LAS VEGAS – James Terry’s quiet but steady ascent up Strikeforce’s welterweight ranks hit a snag – in controversial fashion – against Nah-Shon Burrell.
While Burrell was the more dangerous fighter, Terry was more complete and scored frequently with takedowns. However, Burrell ultimately earned a controversial split-decision win.
