LAS VEGAS – With four-straight wins in the UFC’s featherweight division,
Dustin Poirier is quickly moving up the short list
of potential challengers to 145-pound champion Jose Aldo.

The Federal Trade Commission has ended a long-running investigation into Zuffa’s business practices.
“Upon further review of this matter, it now appears that no further action is warranted by the commission at this time,” stated a letter published by FTC secretary Donald S. Clark. “Accordingly, the investigation has been closed.”
Zuffa chief counsel Lawrence Epstein declined to comment on the ruling when contacted today by MMAjunkie.com.

Lightweights Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard were part of a small group with extended periods of
success this past year and under consideration for a title shot. But

The fight headlined the pay-per-view main card of UFC 141 and followed
prelims on Facebook and Spike TV. It took place at MGM Grand Garden

But Anthony Njokuani, who fights the former on Friday at UFC 141, thinks they’re the same.
“Nijem and Castillo are pretty much mirror images of each other, so there were no changes made,” he today told MMAjunkie.com Radio.

Wait, you mean you’re not going to fall down when I punch you?
If you could hear Roger Bowling’s inner-monologue around the second round of his most recent fight – the end of a trilogy with Bobby Voelker – you would hear this incredulous question.
Then, if referee Josh Rosenthal had not – as many refs do – placed his hand over the microphone, you would have heard Bowling ask those six words that spell disaster: “Why did you stop the fight?”

When the UFC octagon seems close enough to touch, it’s hard to get it out of your head.
However, facing a dangerous bantamweight in the meantime is a quick way to compartmentalize the thought, if only for a night.
Cody Gibson will have to continue to win to make this dream a reality. He faces Ulysses Gomez for the vacant bantamweight title tonight at “Tachi Palace Fights 11: Redemption.”
