With a dramatic highlight-reel knockout of Marlon Sandro, Pat Curran has become the first Bellator fighter to win tournaments in two weight classes.
In the finale of the organization’s featherweight “Summer Series” tournament, Curran – a season-two lightweight-tourney champion – blasted Sandro with a second-round KO via head kick.
The bout headlined Saturday’s Bellator 48 event.

A welterweight bout between British fighter Mark Scanlon and former middleweight James Head has been added to October’s UFC 138 lineup.
Officials today announced the matchup.
UFC 138 takes place Nov. 5 at the 16,000-seat LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England.

After 15 years and 45 fights, Wanderlei Silva goals appear to be running at cross purposes.
On one hand, he wants to fight 10 more fights over five years. He doesn’t want to retire just yet. He’s clearly addicted to the rush brought by fighting under the lights.
On the other, he fights with a style that has taken a great toll on his body and left him staring up at those lights on more occasions that anyone would like.

Pat Barry, Christian Morecraft and Nik Lentz received the longest
medical suspensions following this past weekend’s UFC on Versus 4 event,
netting 60 days each.
MMAjunkie.com recently requested and today received
the list of suspensions from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.
UFC on Versus 4 took place June 26 at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center.
Heavyweight striker Cheick Kongo secured a first-round knockout of
Barry in the evening’s main event.
