BOSTON – As expected the Ultimate Fighting Championship has opened a dedicated Asian Operations division, and former NBA China executive Mark Fischer has been named executive vice president and managing director.
UFC officials made the announcement at Saturday’s post-UFC 118 press conference in Boston.
As part of the initiative, Fischer will look to build a roster of local talent and develop relationships with many sports federations in the region, including the China National Wushu Federation.

Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas” event, Shine Fight Promotions is working
hard on regrouping, re-organizing and promoting a third event.
Unfortunately the accounting department apparently isn’t working quite as hard on
cutting checks.
Chute Boxe head Augusto Oliveira today informed MMAjunkie.com that the two fighters he had scheduled at the event,
Luiz Azeredo and Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira, have yet to be paid
despite multiple promises of a forthcoming purse.

LAS VEGAS – Following the opening of offices in the U.K. and soon Toronto, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is finalizing plans for its third international division.
As UFC president Dana White first suggested in May, the Las Vegas-based promotion next will open an office in mainland China.
In fact, the UFC’s Chinese website launched over the weekend, a new division head has been hired, and the office will open “immediately,” White said.

UFC heavyweight James McSweeney’s representative contends that his fighter was hit with several illegal elbows during a loss to Travis Browne this past Saturday at The Ultimate Fighter 11 finale.
Lex McMahon, McSweeney’s manager, today told MMAjunkie.com that he intends to file an appeal this week with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
However, NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer said he does not believe Browne committed any fouls during the bout.

Ultimate Fighting Championships officials today announced they’ll open a dedicated Canadian office and have named former Canadian Football League Commissioner and one-time Adidas Canadian president Tom Wright as the division’s new head.
UFC chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC president Dana White made
the announcement today at a press conference at the Rogers Centre in
Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The Canadian city, which is the country’s largest, will be home to the UFC’s Canadian office.
