Gray Maynard can now resume his quest for gold.
The UFC lightweight contender today told MMAjunkie.com that his doctor has given him the green light to resume training.
“I’ve been cleared,” said Maynard, who mentioned October’s UFC 136 event as a possible return date.

All this waiting has gotten to Gray Maynard. Somewhere along the line, his quest to become lightweight champion has become very personal.
“This is one that he’s worked so many years for, and somebody’s dangling it in front of him, and every time he gets close, they just keep pulling it away,” Maynard’s boxing coach, Gil Martinez, told MMAjunkie.com Radio.

UFC lightweight contender Gray Maynard underwent
minor surgery this past week in Los Angeles to repair a nagging problem
with his knee.
Although disappointed he won’t be facing champ Frankie Edgar at this weekend’s UFC 130 event, Maynard expects to be
back in the gym without much delay.
Physical therapy begins Wednesday for the Las Vegas fighter, who fought Edgar to a draw in their second meeting at UFC 125.

opened as a pick ‘em bout.
Noted MMA oddsmaker and frequent radio guest Joey Oddessa told MMAjunkie.com Radio he’s set the initial
line at -115 for both fighters.
UFC president Dana White recently told MMAFighting.com the bout will be held at UFC 130, which is expected to take place May 28 in Las
