Reality TV is a powerful thing when you’re on it for more than 10 minutes.
One one hand, Herman, now 31, is happy to have had the opportunity to be
seen on such a powerful platform as “The Ultimate Fighter.” For a fight career, nothing could be
better than weekly exposure, even if it consists of you monkeying around
a house in Las Vegas with free booze.
But it also means he’s that guy on “TUF.”

LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White doesn’t anticipate having to find a new heavyweight contender a week after the current one was charged with misdemeanor battery.
White said today that it’s his understanding that the charge arose when Alistair Overeem was confronted outside the restroom of a popular Las Vegas club.

He’s waiting on another one.

CHICAGO – It was just a little more than a week ago that UFC
middleweight prospect Chris Weidman got the call he,
for some unknown reason, expected to get.
“I just had a feeling that somebody was going to get hurt and I was
going to get a big opportunity,” Weidman said at Wednesday’s pre-UFC on
FOX 2 workouts.
And so Weidman agreed to fill in on short notice and face Demian Maia on the main card of Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 event in
Chicago. Of course, there was the small issue of the 31 pounds he
needed to lose.

In our YouTube-savvy culture, street fight videos occupy a niche market
in titillation and frequently serve as the basis for public outrage on
violence.
But for all the shocking behavior caught on tape, there are just as many
incidents that live only in the memories of those who were there.
UFC on FX 1′s Jared Papazian still sees some of the bullies that cornered him one day
and beat him. There were 10 in all; he was in high school. He wanted to
fight them one-by-one, but that wasn’t an option.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Anthony Johnson’s third weighcutting mistake will be his last in the UFC, at least for now.

“This is his third time,” White said of Johnson’s failure to make weight
for the third time in his octagon career. “Three strikes and you’re gone.”
