CHICAGO – Welcome to the big show, Lavar Johnson.
Johnson, the first Strikeforce heavyweight to compete in the UFC following the recent Showtime-Strikeforce television deal, managed to accomplish something no other UFC fighter had ever done to Joey Beltran: stop him with strikes.
The fight took place on the FUEL TV-televised preliminary card of Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 event, which took place at Chicago’s United Center.

The UFC’s first-ever “UFC Prelims” special on FX drew 880,000 viewers.

The viewership number is slightly smaller than for any of the 26 “UFC
Prelims” broadcasts to air on Spike TV but does beat out each of the

Donald Cerrone hadn’t even gotten to the dressing rooms of the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas when he agreed to fight Nate Diaz.
There was no need to reflect on how he had just mauled Dennis Siver at October’s UFC 137 event. He knew what he wanted next.
At first, he couldn’t even remember who he’d just fought at UFC 137 when asked about the root of his rift with Diaz. By in large, Cerrone is focused on what’s directly in front of him.

At just 24 years old and with a mere 138 seconds of professional
fighting experience, Strikeforce’s Ronda Rousey is
certainly not lacking in confidence.
As such, Rousey already has her eyes set on a future meeting with
current Strikeforce 145-pound champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, a
woman widely regarded as the best – and certainly most dangerous -
female in the sport.
But not just yet, Rousey says. Timing is imperative.

This year has been worst than most for the oft-criticized, notoriously under-appreciated Jon Fitch.
For starters, it’s nearing the end of December, and the all-he-does-is-win guy has yet to taste victory in 2011. Some of it is his fault. And some of it is beyond his control.
But Fitch next faces Johny Hendricks before year’s end on the pay-per-view main card of UFC 141.
