LAS VEGAS – UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones may eventually fight in the heavyweight division, but it won’t be anytime soon.
UFC president Dana White today shot down the possibility of Jones moving to heavyweight during a press conference ahead of this weekend’s UFC 143 event in Las Vegas.
Jones, who’s made quick work of the 205-pound division after becoming the UFC’s youngest-ever titleholder, recently told UFC officials he’d like to move up a weight class before year’s end.

After years of cutting in excess of 30 pounds – and sometimes as much as 50 – to fight in the welterweight division, Anthony Johnson likes the idea of fighting at middleweight.
So much so, in fact, that he’s “so far” done with his former weight class.
“This is easy,” said Johnson, who fights Vitor Belfort next week at UFC 142. “This is going to be a lot of fun for me.”

Like many fighters who appear on “The Ultimate Fighter,” Louis Gaudinot is not fighting at his natural weight class.
Although his turn on show’s 14th season came as a bantamweight, he’s actually a top-10 ranked fighter at 10 pounds lighter at flyweight.
So when Gaudinot meets fellow “TUF” contestant Johnny Bedford at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale, he’s hoping a win not only gets him a UFC contract but holds his place in line if the promotion opens the 125-pound division.

Brian Foster is headed to Bellator Fighting Championships’ competitive welterweight division.
Officials today announced the signing, thought terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“I’m getting that belt,” Foster stated. “I want to fight the best. I want to fight (champ) Ben Askren and take home that belt. I ran through my last two opponents, and I’m better than I’ve ever been.”

Brazilian youngster Charles Oliveira is dropping to 145 pounds.
MMAjunkie.com today learned from Oliveira’s manager,
Wade Hampel, that Oliveira has informed UFC brass he would like for his
next fight to take place in the company’s featherweight division.
“Charles hopes to return to action before the end of the year, if
possible,” Hampel said. “We’re extremely excited to see what he can
achieve at 145 pounds.”

After a failed bid to take the UFC featherweight title and suffering his third title loss, Kenny Florian hinted he was considering a retirement from the sport.
But Florian has opted against that and will return to the lightweight division.
The 35-year-old tweeted the news overnight.
