Following Friday’s win on the third episode of FX’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Live,” Justin Lawrence planned to reward himself with a single-night feast of ribs and soda.
But after the win, the Team Cruz lightweight told MMAjunkie.com his knockout of PRIDE vet Cristiano Marcello was far from perfect.
“I’m not satisfied, and I’m not happy,” he said immediately after his live fight. “It was a good win, but I kind of felt sloppy out there.”

While “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” is drawing mostly positive reviews
from MMA fans, the show hasn’t yet proved a ratings monster in its first
season on FX.
That said, UFC president Dana White isn’t ready to push the panic button just yet.
“Far from it,” White told MMAjunkie.com. “Spirits are high around here. Everything is good.”

Thiago Santos’ manager makes no excuses for his fighter missing weight for Friday’s Bellator 62 event.
That said, he’s not exactly thrilled at the circumstances that were presented to his client.
Despite Bellator Fighting Championships CEO Bjorn Rebney’s decision not
to cut Santos for the infraction and to instead help connect him with a
nutritional expert, manager Josef Borges believes the company should
take a little responsibility for the misstep.

Friday night at the Score Fighting Series 4, John Alessio returns to his native Canada for a main-event fight.
In an ideal world, he’ll defeat fellow lightweight Ryan Healy, earn his 10th win in 11 fights, and then parlay it into a spot on July’s planned UFC 149 fight card in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
However, Alessio, who hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2006, knows he’s doesn’t live in an ideal world.

SYDNEY – It was a mistake so odd that even UFC president Dana White was left speechless. (Well, relatively.)
At the conclusion of this weekend’s UFC on FX 2 event in Sydney, local commission official Craig
Waller let White in on an important piece of information: He had miscalculated the scores of
the flyweight-tournament bout between Demetrious Johnson and
Ian McCall.
If you think White is happy
that maybe a little controversy will help sell a rematch, think again.

At the conclusion of this weekend’s UFC on FX 2 event in Sydney, Craig
Waller, the executive director of the Combat Sports Authority of New
South Wales, let White in on an important piece of information: He had miscalculated the scores of
the flyweight tournament bout between Demetrious Johnson and
Ian McCall.
While the two involved combatants dealt with obviously different
emotions, White’s demeanor was clear as day. If you think he’s happy
that maybe a little controversy will help sell a rematch, think again.

SYDNEY – For a guy widely considered the world’s No. 1 ranked flyweight, Ian McCall isn’t getting much love from the oddsmakers.
McCall, who fights Demetrious Johnson in the UFC flyweight-tournament opening round this weekend at UFC on FX 2, enters his promotional debut as a hefty 3-to-1 underdog.
“In this sport, you always have something to prove,” he told MMAjunkie.com. “No matter who you are, you can’t be up on your pedestal for too long because someone’s always trying to knock you off of it.”

Mark Fischer spent 12 years trying to grow the NBA in China and Japan, where he did not have the luxury of leveraging local talent.
Big-league basketball sold well. But in Japan, the league was always running at a deficit.
“As much or more as any other market, it’s very important to have athletes from Japan in the league or in the organization,” Fischer, head of the UFC’s Asian Operations division, told MMAjunkie.com. “The NBA was never able to achieve that. There was never any Japanese good enough.”
