All this waiting has gotten to Gray Maynard. Somewhere along the line, his quest to become lightweight champion has become very personal.
“This is one that he’s worked so many years for, and somebody’s dangling it in front of him, and every time he gets close, they just keep pulling it away,” Maynard’s boxing coach, Gil Martinez, told MMAjunkie.com Radio.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has watched the UFC welterweight champion go from “shockingly naive” some 10 years ago to a fighter who could hang with the world’s most respected submission artists.
Most MMA observers believe that the opponent in St-Pierre’s sixth title defense, Jake Shields, has but one way to win the fight: on the ground. But Danaher says GSP has faced better grapplers.

Bull’s” pre-UFC days, but he admits he didn’t scrutinize the striker as a
potential future foe. Adding to the challenge? Makdessi’s teammate,
Georges St-Pierre, was Watson’s coach during his “TUF” run.
