A heavily rumored matchup between former UFC heavyweight champ Cain
Velasquez and Antonio Silva is
not happening, a source today told MMAjunkie.com.
The bout was reportedly targeted for April, when the UFC is scheduled to return to Atlanta for UFC 146.
While Silva is still targeted to make his octagon debut on that month, his opponent is undetermined.

ROSEMEAD, Calif. – When he walked into the UFC’s Rosemead, Calif. gym some 13 months ago, Cain Velasquez was the best challenger the promotion had to offer heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.
Now Velasquez is the champ, and Junior Dos Santos sits on the horizon waiting to dethrone him.
Oddsmakers still see Velasquez as a slight favorite leading into his headliner with Dos Santos, which takes place Saturday at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., as the main event of UFC on FOX.

Cheick Kongo knows Saturday’s UFC 137 co-main-event win over Matt Mitrione wasn’t a signature or highlight-reel win that dazzled fans, but it served its purpose.
It got him one step closer to a rematch with champ Cain Velasquez, whom Kongo said was “lucky” in their first meeting.

Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos will lead the UFC’s charge on to network television.
UFC president Dana White today announced that Velasquez and Dos Santos
will headline UFC on FOX 1, which takes place Nov. 12 at Honda Center in
Anaheim, Calif.
The event marks the UFC’s debut on network television and kicks-off a
seven-year deal between the UFC and FOX, a partnership that also
includes UFC programming on FX and FUEL TV.
