NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – If you need proof that MMA is the combat sport of the future, look no further than the Richard
Steele Boxing Club in Las Vegas.
The five-year-old nonprofit gym on Thursday took its MMA program to the next level.
The gym’s MMA program already has more than 55 kids enrolled. On Thursday, UFC officials partnered with Century Martial Arts to donate thousands of dollars of gloves, bags and other equipment to help fund the program’s growing needs.

On Monday, Nov. 7, boxing legend Joe Frazier passed away from liver cancer at the age of 67.
UFC site coordinator Burt Watson was closer to Frazier than most. He

The 48-year-old Jimmerson today said he’s itching to fight Slice. The bearded brawler this year embarked on a pro-boxing career after his MMA career fizzled.

Brad Wheeler first fought in front of a crowd when he was about 14 years old. It was in boxing, a sport beloved by his father, who was also a skilled soccer player.
Wheeler was more interested in combat sports than life on the soccer field, so he got into the gym from an early age. He didn’t waste any time taking the first of his 12 amateur boxing matches and getting familiar with the feel of the crowd and a strike to the face.
But ultimately, the lure of MMA proved too strong for the Cage Warriors 44 fighter.
