Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ Miesha Tate readily admits she
doesn’t think Ronda Rousey is deserving of a shot at her belt.
That said, she also realizes Rousey does possess legitimate grappling
skills that must be addressed in their March 3 headlining contest.
But Tate also believes her own skillset is being greatly underestimated
by many MMA fans and pundits, not to mention Rousey. And while
“Takedown” earned her fighting nickname due to her wrestling pedigree,
she thinks “Rowdy” best be ready to throw hands.

On Thursday, on the eve of his title fight and rematch with M-1 welterweight champ Shamil Zavurov, Yasubey Enomoto was as cool as a naked Eskimo sitting on a block of ice eating a Popsicle.
After all, in the days before a fight, his nerves aren’t easily rattled.

BIRMINGHAM, England – UFC 138 had the makings of a disaster for former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves.
A 16-fight UFC veteran, he was criticized for taking on an unknown UFC newcomer in Papy Abedi, and at Friday’s weigh-ins, his past weight-cutting issues seemed to catch up with him again when he initially failed to make weight.
A victory, though, was Alves needed to reassure himself better days are ahead.

Admittedly, Stefan Struve hasn’t used his towering stature to its fullest potential.
The 6-foot-11 heavyweight on multiple occasions has been knocked out by men several times shorter. Most recently it was the 6-foot-7 Travis Browne, but not too long ago, it was the 6-foot Roy Nelson.
Struve couldn’t have any more of a height and reach advantage than in his next fight. On Saturday, he takes on Pat Barry, who’s a full foot shorter. The two are in different weather systems.

Longtime middleweight contender Nate Marquardt never seriously considered a drop to welterweight until a conversation with teammate Georges St-Pierre.
With St-Pierre’s urging, Marquardt recently decided to drop to welterweight and now headlines next week’s UFC on Versus 4 event against Rick Story.
A victory could put Marquardt immediately into title contention, but as for a possible meeting with St-Pierre, he’s remaining tight-lipped.

It’s just Chris Cope’s luck that he would be required to fight Chuck O’Neil, one of the only guys to whom he took a liking on “The Ultimate Fighter 13.”
But Cope knows that fighting friends is part of the business, especially on a reality show in which you could end up fighting anyone in the end.
Cope’s Team Lesnar teammates weren’t jazzed that he hung out with the opposing Team Dos Santos during the reality show’s six-week shoot. In fact, they thought he was a spy. But there was a reason he talked to everyone, and it’s the same reason he wasn’t too fazed about fighting Chuck O’Neil.
