M-1 Global’s return to Showtime is now official with five main-card contests.
The premium-cable channel recently announced four new contests for “M-1 Challenge 26: Bennett vs. Garner,” including Arthur Guseinov vs. Tyson Jeffries, Josh Bacallao vs. Mairbek Taisumov, Beau Baker vs. Daniel Weichel and Eddie Arizmendi vs. Jason Norwood.
Featuring a rematch between M-1 Selection 2010 heavyweight tournament finalists Pat Bennett and Kenny Garner, “M-1 Challenge 26: Bennett vs. Garner” takes place July 8 at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, Calif., and airs on Showtime.

Reed Harris has come a long way from Lemoore, Calif.
The World Extreme Cagefighting co-founder – who started the fight
promotion in 2001 as a potential one-and-done gig – has managed the growth of
the company from its time as a fledgling regional promotion to its current role as the home
of the sport’s best lighter-weight fighters.
But with today’s announcement that the UFC will absorb the WEC beginning in 2011, is Harris perhaps a bit saddened by the
dissolution of the brand he helped create?
Not one bit.

While DVD sales have long provided a consistent revenue stream for the
UFC, the company’s sister promotion just recently joined the market.
Now, a little less than two months after releasing its first title, “WEC
48: Aldo vs. Faber,” under an agreement with Image Entertainment, Inc.,
the promotion has announced a follow-up.
On Tuesday, Sept. 7, a selection of some of the best fights under the
WEC banner in 2008 and 2009 will be released on a “Best of WEC” DVD.

BOSTON – As expected the Ultimate Fighting Championship has opened a dedicated Asian Operations division, and former NBA China executive Mark Fischer has been named executive vice president and managing director.
UFC officials made the announcement at Saturday’s post-UFC 118 press conference in Boston.
As part of the initiative, Fischer will look to build a roster of local talent and develop relationships with many sports federations in the region, including the China National Wushu Federation.
