The lineup for “DREAM: New Year! 2011″ continues to fill, and former UFC
legend Josh Barnett and MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba are among the latest additions to the year-end event.

DREAM executives recently announced both notables will take part in
pro-wrestling contests, with Barnett facing Hideki Suzuki while Sakuraba
and Katsuyori Shibata take on Shinichi Suzukawa and Atsushi Sawada in a
tag-team affair.

DREAM also added a pair of kickboxing contests to the card with Yuta Kubo vs. Nils Widlund and Masaaki Noiri vs. Kengo Sonoda.

This year has been worst than most for the oft-criticized, notoriously under-appreciated Jon Fitch.

For starters, it’s nearing the end of December, and the all-he-does-is-win guy has yet to taste victory in 2011. Some of it is his fault. And some of it is beyond his control.

But Fitch next faces Johny Hendricks before year’s end on the pay-per-view main card of UFC 141.

A long-rumored women’s bout is now official for next week’s “DREAM: New Year! 2011″ event.

Japanese notable and recent Bellator fighter Megumi Fujii and Spanish vet Karla Benitez are official for the year-end card in a 115-pound bout.

MMAjunkie.com passed along news of the bout earlier this month, and DREAM executives today made it official.

Fedor Emelianenko is returning to Japan.

A long-rumored bout between the former PRIDE heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist Satoshi Ishii is expected to headline a New Year’s Eve event in Japan featuring two DREAM title bouts and the completion of the DREAM bantamweight tournament.

Officials today announced the fight.

As a reminder, the 2011 World MMA Awards ceremony airs tonight on FOX Sports Net.

The one-hour presentation airs on the cable network’s affiliates at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The 2011 World MMA Awards originally took place Nov. 30 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Winners from 22 categories in the industry awards were announced.

A women’s bout has been added to the year-end “DREAM: New Year! 2011″ event.

Japanese notable and recent Bellator fighter Megumi Fujii and Spanish vet Karla Benitez have agreed to meet at the show.

MMAjunkie.com confirmed the planned matchup with an event source. Sherdog first reported the likelihood of the bout, which marks both fighters’ DREAM debut.
